Los Alamos Historical Society
Outreach Suitcase Program Policy and Agreement
The Los Alamos Historical Society owns and maintains seven “outreach suitcases” relating to Archaeology, Homesteading, Hispanic Homesteading, Los Alamos Ranch School, Manhattan Project, Early Los Alamos, and Recent Los Alamos history. Each suitcase contains an inventory list, a teaching script, photographs, and hands-on artifacts. Models also accompany some of the suitcases. The suitcases are stored in the north wing of Fuller Lodge.
The suitcases are available for check out by local (Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Espanola, Pojoaque) teachers or schools for up to two weeks.
The person who checks out the suitcase is responsible for reviewing the inventory with Historical Society staff and making note of any missing items before the suitcase leaves Fuller Lodge. The inventory will also be reviewed with staff upon return of the suitcase.
When appropriate, the models may also be checked out with their corresponding suitcase. Please, note, however, that the models are very fragile and should be handled only by teachers and only viewed by students.
______The person who checks out the suitcase will be responsible for replacing or repairing any items that are missing or damaged.
______If the suitcase is not returned by the date specified in this agreement, a fine of $5 per day will be assessed.
